Reception Hall Decorating

How many people does it take to get a table up? : ) Here's a picture of Sarah, Julie, and Sarah's dad, John Schmidt, trying to figure out how to get this table up. It seems that there was a bit of riggin' that needed done to this particular table in all reality, but I thought it was a pretty funny picture. : ) When I left the hall yesterday (to head back to Tim & Kathy's to be there when the kids got off the bus) the hall was mostly finished. The tables mainly needed to be arranged, and the chairs set around them. Tomorrow is the big day for Sarah & Derek!!

Kids Sitting

Not often we get to kid-sit! Tim & Kathy were away for a few days, so Shane and I had the privilege of watching Brandt, Tyler, and Alyssa for the last two days. We commutted back and forth from Gorrie to Durham. We had a real nice time with them. They are great kids. (Pretty funny, too!) Last night we enjoyed a game of Settlers, Uncle Shane just barely beating out Brandt (who cut me off!! Not that I'm miffed or anything. hee hee!) : ) Tyler is a Development Card Junky, and Alyssa was my fabulous dice roller. (Should have been on a '6'!)

Welcome Back, Scooly!!

It has been grand to have a former student, now missionary en-route to the Philippines, back for a visit! Julie Koop is back to take care of all flower arrangements for Sarah's wedding, tomorrow! Friends who know her best from church got together at the Lichty's home for an ice cream social to just spend time talking and visiting with Julie, as well as eating! Yum!!!

Marriage Takes More Than Love

Our marriage study finished up Saturday with a potluck. We had stopped back in May, just short of the end with the Andrews needing to tend to their strawberry plants. They have a large strawberry business in the summer and they began their preparations. We have really enjoyed meeting as a group, not only to share in the lessons learned through the book, but to also be in each other's homes and to really get to know one another. God has blessed us with some very dear friends!

When The Power Goes Out

This past Thursday we had lots of snow, but by evening a thunderstorm blew in. We got lots of rain, lighting, thunder, and power outage! Usually is would not be that bad, but our company was coming in 5 minutes and my rice had only been cooking for 5 minutes! I finished frying up krupuk (Indonesian prawn cracker), and began rice on the gas stove.

Dave & Nancy Brunn, who we picked up from the airport on Tuesday (Feb. 14th) in Toronto, were coming for supper. Once the rice was cooked we sat down to our meal with our lantern going. We really enjoyed our evening with the Brunns, as we always have, and played 'Gang of Four' with them til 9:30. We sent them home with a flashlight and just as they got into their guest room, the lights came back on! : ) How's that for timing.

Church Work Bee

Last weekend, February 11th, our church group had a work bee for the community center in which we meet. Another main reason for our work was that we got permission to put in a speaker and wiring for mics so that they didn't have to be carted out and put back every Sunday. We are so thankful for this new change! The Botts, our pastor and family, have taken the responsability for years to set up the hall each Sunday. It will be a blessing for them for sure. Some of the group also did odd jobs like fixing faucets and Bev Andrews and I cleaned the whole kitchen.

Wallpaper Removal Girls

Wallpaper removal FINALLY!! : ) I have wanted to change the lower half of our living room walls since we moved in a year and a half ago, however, I did not know what I wanted to do with them until about 3 weeks ago. So, my new neighbour and friend, Yvonne, came down one afternoon to help me take the wallpaper off. It was not so bad! I think I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. I have included a 'while' and 'after' picture for you as well as the picture of the pillows that I made to tie in the couch and the fall color. Yeah!! I love my livingroom!!
