Our First Chat

Today has been a day of organizing things at home for me, and a day for Shane to work on our volvo - change spark plugs - distributor cap - clean it up a bit. We have recently begun Skyping (my new word...) and still having it connected, Shane got the pleasant surprise of hearing from the Turnbulls! They made it to South Africa yesterday morning, our time, and we got to hear their wonderful voices over our speakers! : ) There was quite a bit of echo which we of course had fun with. : ) (oops... I ended with a preposition...) Any suggestions out there on the echo?? : )

Tootoreeng, Twotoring, Tutoring....

Here's one of the many things I did this afternoon with two of our mom's that missed phonetic classes this morning by being a part of the childcare program. The lesson for today was back vowels - u, (a 'horse shoe'), o and (an 'open o). :)

After tutoring, I joined a phonetic sound meeting already in progress. Tomorrow's lesson is voiceless M, N, (enye), and the (eng). : ) A new change to my work area is the progress on a reception wall around my desk. Yeah!!! My wires and legs will be hid.

Birgit Schmale

One of our fellow graduating class-mates, is "home" on furlough from working at a boy's orphanage in Quito, Ecuador. She's here in North America for a few weeks, then it is back to Germany for the rest of her time. It is fun to talk with Birgit again! We picked her up from the bus stop last night.

(Since we had time, we had a date at Harveys for supper, then a trip to Walmart to pick up Snack Shop supplies, and other things like toothpaste!! :) Here's a picture of the sunset when we headed out of Harveys.)

Ladies Day Out

This morning we headed out into the beautiful day God gave us today! We had fun getting out together and seeing a few of the local sights; today those places were Eugenia Falls & part of the Niagara Escarpment called 'Old Baldy.'

Holly Becomes Canadian

In my Canadian Citizenship journey, I have often 'bent' Holly's ear as she is "going before me" in this same venture. Last night, Vern had a party for Holly, and we enjoyed going and being a part of this long awaited event in their lives. She even got "caroled" by the Shafers & Stevens in singing 'O Canada' for Holly. Yeah to Holly!!!

Shane's New Office

We finished up with Shane's office this past week. It was so fun to hang up the pictures, poles, and my favorite, the piece of wood with lure and tangled line (yet to come). Here's a peak..

Labor/Labour Day

Our day off: a bit of relaxing and a bit of work. Shane has been busy working on finishing up a white board stand for our new 2nd year classroom. We didn't want to hang it because it would be in front of the windows (which are already basement....), so the next thing to do is build a stand for it. So that is what these next pictures are of...

A Day of Rest?

: ) Today was a busy one, and happily so. Sundays always seem to be busy; how do we call it a 'day of rest?' There was church, then lunch (and Shane's nap with kitty), then off to church to hear an amazing testimony of Brian Steed, and then from closer to home - Phil & Adam Bott on their kidney donation/transplant. Good Dog Spot was also there to provide music, which was a fun thing. We got to see Dave Dresher again, and meet his family. (He grew up in Irian Jaya!) He is a guitarist for the band... It was an encouraging time, a fun time, and a good time to hear how God has worked in peoples lives, showing clear evidence of his presence in the midst of trials.

Shane napping with Lichty's cat - well, it is really the cat who always naps on Shane!

The Corn Huskers!

I saw Liz!! I hadn't seen her is almost a year!

The Dresher family...

Rohlkruchen & Watermellon

What a fun night we had at Esaus! Rohkruchen & Watermellon with lots of visiting and then a good game of 'President & Scum.' Shane was always somewhere in the middle and I could barely get out of the scum position. :( Oh well.... it was a really fun evening.

Bechtels....

We had a fun time with Angie & Jason on Thursday night! : ) They came over to play Settlers. It has been FOREVER since we've played!!! It was fun.
