Academy Track & Field Day

Today is the long expected Academy Track & Field Day! Competitions started at 8:30 and will continue til about 4 or 4:30 this afternoon. Here are a few pics from this morning! : ) (For fun, there was a ladies 50m and a guys 50m race. The two Whatley sister-in-laws came in 1st & 2nd! Go Rachel! : ) She is a FAST runner!!)






























































































































































































This guy didn't break the record, but he did get to 160 cm in heighth for the jump.
The day is almost over! We are having a campus wide potluck and a pig decided to join us! Yummmmm! (Some of them, as you can see, are enjoying a game of Risk while they are waiting for it to cook. ) : ) Joy thought it was yummy! Great marinade Matt!!!

One Way God Provides

This morning we got in a HUGE load of carpets and wood flooring! A gentleman donated carpet remnants and wood flooring to us, and it arrived today. What a huge blessing! It is always exciting to see how God provides!

Handmade Rocks and Laundry Time

As the Lord works and heals my own heart through the submission to His seemingly will for Shane and I's life to not have children, I have been able to begin to enjoy the kids I have around me. Today as I hurridly folded my laundry, I heard a small, cheery greeting from the window up above me. James was grinning through the window at me, and asked me what I was doing. He held out his hand to show me what he had, I counted three dirt 'rocks' that he had made. :) He shared that he had made them and was off to make some more. He carefully put them down on the ground outside the window and disappeared. A minute later he reappeared with another one. I began my count of these handmade 'rocks.' We got to 11 by the time I had my laundry folded and ready to wisk away. It was fun to have someone to talk to, and it was nice to see James enjoying talking to me. I don't have a lot of confidence being around kids and knowing what to talk to them about, but it is always really neat when those few kids out there seem to take a liking to this person I call, me. :)

Kathy & I

I always seem to think that I know less of my family, immediate or otherwise, than most. It has been a treat and an encouragement to me to get to know Kathy more. She has been through a lot over the last couple of year, and we were able to share our hearts with one another, and she encouraged me in the Lord in my own struggles. I've grown and dealt with a few big issues in my life this year. I've appreciated Kathy's listening ear as I 'let it all out.' I had the privilege of helping her decorate her home, at the same time, she gave me an opportunity to see how God has worked in her life through. Thanks so much Kathy, and thank you Lord for your gift in my sister-in-law.

Helpin' Around the House

Over this last year, we have made many 40 minute trips to Tim & Kathy's place. Mostly to help them build, repair, fix, or paint. With them heading back to the field, Tim had a few jobs that he still needed done at the house, and we thought we'd be saying our 'good-byes.' We did get the projects build, caulked, and painted, and enjoyed a last time of sitting and visiting over coffee. (There are always the treets that have stayed in the freezer until a special occassion which never arrises, so we got to enjoy the shrimp ring ourselves!) We emptied their cupboards and freezer and headed home for 11 P.M. It was a very nice time together! We even enjoyed a trip made by Scott & Brenda and kids.)

Mother's Day

Well, it has been almost 2 years since my mom died. She was a good mom. She loved dad, and lived to be a godly help meet for him and a caring, providing mom for us kids. She didn't always understand where I was coming from, but in my troubled young adult years, she was always there to listen to me justify my life choices. I knew they were wrong and she wasn't agreeing, but I always appreciated her loving, listening ear. Mom is in a much better place. She loved her Lord and Savior, and I know that she is enjoying heaven! Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

Odd & Ends

Calipers, Roters, and Brakes

We have had the problem of shaking, jerking, bunny hopping, and whip lash when we apply pressure to the brakes since we have had our car. We have replaced some parts (you'll have to ask my honey which ones they were), but we continue to experience the above symptoms. So, my honey has again taken the Volvo Bull by the front fender and is currently wrestling it to the garage floor. If it isn't the wrong caliper, ruined bolts, and the wife with the happy camera button finger, it may be another hinderance to my honey's progress. It is Saturday afternoon, and he has been working on it all day today as well.









































We hope to have all of the parts, and have it together so we can make the 1/2 hr. treck to church tomorrow morning. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again as it has been 3 weeks since we have been to our own church. So, if you think of it, please pray for Shane and the repairing of our faith builder, the 'False Prophet.' :)

Taking a Tumble

Mom & Dad Whatley were here this past week. They were to head home on Thursday, however, dad took a tumble on the squash court on Wednesday afternoon and they stuck around for two more days until dad got the 'ok.' A&R, and S&I headed for an already planned visit to Tim's. We were there when dad, and Tim & Kathy arrived back from the hospital. We won't be together again for a long time, so it was a good time for a family shot. Certainly a picture that speaks a thousand words!
