Last Training Family Social

Man, the weeks are beginning to be a blur and the calendar is so full! Wednesday we got home from my citizenship party at Bakers, and as Shane and I worked on proofing our newsletter I was beginning to wilt fast, by 10! I am tired by then, but the longer I sat still, the more I was closer to falling asleep in my chair! I have been asleep usually before Shane even makes it to bed.

This Friday was the finishing of a busy week. I met Jason's mom and step dad at 11, to show them where to set up the BBQer and smoker, made sure they were set up,......

....came home to grab a bit of lunch before taking more family unit pictures (for the graduation program) over my lunch break,......

(While I waited for students......)

.......then it was off to meetings all afternoon, a bit of a breather and then back down by the lake to make sure we were all set up for the 1st & 2nd year training family social.

Once everything was ready, Vern called the evening "to order", but gave our co-worker, John the lawn first. John asked Shane and I to come up, and then began thanking us for all that we have done during our time on staff and how God had us join the 2nd year training staff at the perfect time......

He gave us cards from the students and staff and I got the flowers!!! :) (They are sooo pretty and the arrangement is on our diningroom table now. Thanks John!)

Then Shane shared that we have certainly enjoyed our time and built strong relationships with our coworkers. It will be hard to say 'good-bye.' We do not serve to be thanked, but it sure was special for us on Friday. Thank you all very much!

Then the eating got under way......we had chicken, ribs, pork loin, and roast beef. Mmmmm Good!!

The pink smoke ring......

Candid shots.....

A few flower pics from my garden that day. :)

Coming soon to the PO Box near you!!!

Taking Pictures

This week I had the privilege of taking another Prayer Card picture, this time it was of Briell!! :) Isn't she pretty!

In my usual roll as 2nd Year Secretary, I also just took the class picture for the graduation announcements and graduation program. (I am currently taking individual family unit pictures for inside the graduation program.) The sandal pics were while I waited. :)

This is our Class of 2007....aren't they a fine looking bunch?!

May 9th = Citizenship

This is the 60th Year of Canada 'making' it's own citizens.

Today is the day that we thought would take FOREVER!!!! :) Three years have gone by that we haven't been able to fill teacher needs overseas, but now that is really behind us. (Not to mention that I wouldn't trade our three years here for anything!!!!)

I became a Canadian (and American) today.

This evening Peter & Kathy & Brenda planned a party for me! :) It was so fun! I had thought about a party, but with the busy week and one arm it was more than what I had the energy for. (Sorry! That was a preposition!) I had given up on it. Bakers invited some for supper.....

(My cake and I)

(My funny card made by Brenda!)

.... and then our fellow staff came for cake and ice cream! It was really special. Thanks everyone!!!

"Stone Soup"

Last night the Academy put on a musical based on the children's book about the travelers who made stone soup......

Behind the scenes.........

Hungry and hard working town's people......

Travelers always looking for food........

Getting the village people to add: salt & pepper, veggies, a bit of meat, etc. all to make the stone soup taste a bit better.....

Everything turns out all right.......

Cast Face-Lift

on tuesday i got a new cast... i was a bit disappointed to get a fiberglass one, but there are perks... i just have to get over the feeling of having an elizabethan corset on my arm.... not a moment passes that i am reminded of the very uncomfortable, painful squeezing feeling constantly coming from my right arm. must be weird when it gets taken off!

anyway, having a cracked bone is still fine.... i'm getting a bit faster at typing. no worries though matt, i'm sure you still have me beat! :)

so..now that i have my 'permanent' cast on i headed off to kathy's house to get it decorated...

it's current signed condition. there are still a few team mates that have not been able to sign in the white of the ball..

viva la futbol!

My Window Plant Has Flowers!!!!

Who would have thought! I had a wonderful surprise this evening at 6 as I sat on the couch waiting to head to a friend's house. I saw that my plant who had reached it's pot-size, had flowers! I didn't even know to expect it to have flowers! Anyway, Julie, your plant gets flowers!! :) I am REALLY appreciating them tonight!

Ladies Social

This past Friday, my fellow staffers organized a FUN ladies social! It was a picture scavenger hunt, so to speak. The student and staff ladies were put into 5 groups, given the list of "clues" and away we went, needing only to have a good time, eat dinner somewhere, and to come back with a lot of fun, creative pictures. (One added catch... we had to have our chosen utinsil in every picture.)

I know we had a blast! Most of the time we were laughing! Here are a few pictures from the group I was in.
