Papua Trip '09

Recently Shane and I headed to Papua to represent the team here and the Orientation Program. Here are some fun pics.... :)

Layover in Jakarta 7 hours.... stayed at an Executive Lounge... :) (Not so executive, but it was a GREAT place to sleep and sit for 7 hours.)















Heading to our next terminal we spotted a...... WATER FOUNTAIN!!! Ok, so maybe this isn't so impressive to you, however there ARE NO WATERFOUNTAINS in Indonesia!! :)


















We enjoyed our time with our neices! :)










































































We enjoyed visiting friends we hadn't seen in a long time (one as long as 16 years!)

























New money went into circulation the day we traveled... (worth roughly .20 cents)



















Beings as Papua and Papua New Guinea were a buzz with activity during WWII, there are still a LOT of artifacts/ect... left behind that is still used or easily seen.













We also got a trip into my most favorite beach in the world. :) It had changed a lot in 10 years, but there was still a nice small section of coral. Got to see a sea snake and enjoyed watching ALL the kinds of sea life! Shane's brother Nathan will be in Papua for the next year. We left on the plane he arrived on! We got to see him for a brief 10 or 15 minutes which was VERY nice!! :) {Kevin, Nathan, and Shane}














Our trip home sent us by a mall with a Burger King in it.... :) My husband's favorite!!

Birthday Party - August 20th

No.... wasn't much of one, but I sure enjoyed a relaxing coffee drink with Shane and Melissa! The view is beautiful from the top of the Le Beringin Hotel!!

13th Anniversary

Since our anniversary fell on a VERY BUSY day, we went out to eat Sunday night. :) We enjoyed the view from this 4th floor; unfortunately Mt. Merbabu was cloudy.. :(

Our appetizer: Gado-Gado
(boiled potatoes, fried tofu and fermented soy bean cake, boiled eggs, cucumbers, tomatoes, and veggies rolled up along with some prawn crackers... topped with a spicy peanut sauce.)

Ladies Shopping Day

This past Saturday, we had a ladies outing. We normally would have had a ladies meeting on Sunday, but with our new ladies just here, we went sightseeing, shopping, and enjoyed some fellowship along with some cultural food.

Sorry... I was busy helping our new ladies to get some pics of our activities, but here is our sightseeing trip to Prambanan. (Hindu temple from the 13th century) The temple complex suffered damage with the earthquakes and eruption of Mt. Merapi in 2006.
